A Trip to New York City

I had to spend a week in New Jersey for Panasonic class, and Jaime suprised me by showing up at the hotel on Wednesday and booking an extra day so we could go to New York City for a day.

Museum of Natural History Rotunda. A real big dinosaur is in there!
We spent some time checking out all the mammel dioramas. They never cease to amaze me. I really enjoy the background paintings, they are very realistic.
Jaime sneaking up on a herd of elephants. Don't try this at home.
Hi elephant!
These animals kept staring at me. I don't know what's wrong with them.
A gorilla jumped out of the brush and let us know that we were invading its territory. I pounded my chest back and he went back to minding his own business.
This tiger looked hungry. Good thing they're not real live animals or we would have been in trouble.
This is a Fisher, and they are sometimes seen in upstate NY. My boss saw one a few months ago near his house. They're pretty neat looking animals.
Jaime enjoying a chat with the grizzley bears.
This Jaguar is about to jump on something.
We then went to the "Hall of Biodiversity" and saw... well... a lot of biodiversity.
The spider family.
The sea mammels were particularly interesting. They even had a life sized blue whale in the room. It was monstrously huge!
Hi blue whale!
Hi fish!
Then we checked out the dinosaur fossil department. I can't believe that these things actually roamed the earth. To think that something this big could have been running around is crazy!
I wouldn't like to be anything near that monster!
The stegosarus with its armored backbone.
The "Duckbill" dinosaur.
A Triceritops.
With no flash.
The skyline above central park.
More skyline.
Here's the front of the museum.
Jaime and I then went for a walk in central park. We were lucky and our visit cooincided with a big Christo installation "Gates" which officially opened the day after we left, but we did get a feel for the artwork. It's pretty amazing, he put 7500 gates around central park. This project has been 25 years in the making! It's costing him $21,000,000 out of his own pocket to pull it off!
Hanging around...
They made for a very interesting walk, and as Christo's intent, the orange really invigorated the park as it was so dead being the end of winter.
Originally they were supposed to dig holes for all of these (13,000 holes), but the environmental impact was too great. They settled on using these 300 pound iron weights to hold the gates down. The tubing is made out of PVC.
They were all over the place.

Me and Jaime had fun frolicking through them.
We checked out one of the ponds in the park.
La la la. It was pretty frozen still.
More gates.
I've never been down this walkway before. The trees made a beautiful canopy. It must be real nice in the summer.
Jaime wanted to see Trump Tower. Here it is!
On top of this building is the "Ball Pole" where everyone watches at the end of the year.
The NYC skyline attempt from the bus.
Here' s a few Truckdoza photos I had left over.
Doing some shift linkage restoration.
Taking stuff apart...
New shift kit. I had to figure it out a little bit but it should be a pretty awesome addition to the truck.
We mounted the fuel filter and air box.
