First, I'll start off with somehting a bit unrelated: Sometimes
people steal images form other people's websites. Okay, it happens. Sometimes,
they blatantly steal images by not even downloading them, but simply linking
them, therefore stealing people's images AND bandwidth. Well, checking
my webstats, I saw some traffic coming from this address, so I figured
I'd check it out, and this is what I found: They used my Mike Portnoy
photo as their background! Oh, the outrage! How dare they steal my images.
So, I figured I'd get my revenge. |
I decided I'd change the photo, so that when you go to their website,
this is what pops up. Needless to say, they changed their tune real quick
and they edited their background tag the following day, but it sure was
worth a lot of laughs!!! |
Okay, on to... The basement of doom! It definately used to be very doom
like. This is what I had to deal with every day. |
The awesome view down the stairs. It was dank, wet, and leaky. |
This was the other real bad wall. |
Here's some real nice leak ness going on, and rotten flooring. There
used to be paneling on the wall which conveniently hid all of this nastiness
when we looked at the place. But luckily, it could have been much worse. |
More rotten floor underneath the stairs. |
My first order was to patch up the huge holes in the corner. |
I did a little carving while I was at it. |
Then I applied Sani-Tred to the walls. The first step is the gray stuff,
the main paint. The blue stuff is like a rubber based filling compound. |
The other wall needed a bit more filling, as this one leaked a lot more. |
The second coat of paint applied. |
ditto. |
Next, I began attacking the floor, which underneath the rotton linoleum,
looked like this: |
Yuck! |
It was horrible. |
I also discovered that there was a huge rotten cement hole in front
of (and unfortunately underneath) the furnace, which I had to so something
about. |
Digging out the hole. |
I filled the big hole with 2 1/2 bags of concrete. |
The other hole on the side of the furnace. |
Cleaning out more of the nasty floor behind the hot water heater. |
I than skim coated the prepped and clean floor. |
All around everything. |
Next task was to redo the fuse panel. The house was wired up all wrong,
most of the place was running on one circuit. That had to be addressed
as we would blow it up a few times a week. |
The workshop... |
The nasty piles of crap as usual. |
The new sink I will be installing someday. |
The dried up floor repairs. |
Here's Bob Nowicki, he came down and gave me a hand for this little
project. |
Wires!!! |
The new panel mounted on the wall. |
The old panel... It is still a good panel. I wll put it in the garage. |
We had to jerry rig all of the wires to get things back up and running.
Since then, I've been running new wire all over the house, and only have
3 or 4 of the old circuits left to contend with. |
My other future project - another turbo diesel. |
It's beautiful. |
Ahhh, I can't wait to bust into this baby someday soon! |
Yep. |
The turbo!!! |
Moving along to Maine! As you can see, we were packin'! |
After drinking some of the above, we tried some interesting feats, such
as holding ourselves horizontaly in the french doorway. Dad even was able
to do it! |
Josh was the best at it. |
Adam and Dad. |
The room, and Josh! This was Tiffany, just about as she was passing
out and making a fool out of herself. |
We decided to see what would happen if we added soap to a hot tub. We
discovered why they recommend that you do not do it! It makes a TON of
suds! |
Tiffany asleep. |
They had a ton of fun in the hot tub! |
With all that soap. |
It was a family attraction. |
Josh even joined in the fun. |
I think they all got soap in their eyeballs, but it was cool. |
There was also water everywhere in the room. |
Cleaning out the soap. |
Adam contemplating the future. |
Hi Dave! |
We had a birthday party for Dave on Sunday. It was a ton of fun. |
Those glasses were a hit, ecept the red coloring on them would rub off
onto people's noses. |
Dave showed us that he has the ability to actually walk on the very
tips of his toes. Interesting.... |
The ocean view from our window!!! |
Chillin.... |
Later on, we wanted to see how many times we could spin around on the
top of Josh's Beer Mug. I think Dave won, and we only had one or two accidents
requireing trips to the emergency room. |
The lonely mug. |
Without soap, there is a lot more room in the hot tub for people! |
Alex. |
Yep. |
Alex and Jasmine. You can never have too many cute cat pics on one website. |
